Orthodontics

Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry concerned with the study and treatment of malocclusions (bad bites), which May be a result of the irregularity tooth, jaw disproportionate relationships, or both. The word comes from the Greek ortho meaning of simple words and meaning odons tooth. The orthodontic treatment can concentrate on travel dental only, or can deal with the control and modification of the facial growth. In the latter case it is better defined as "dentofacial orthopedics." Orthodontic treatment can be made for purely aesthetic reasons-l'amélioration the general appearance of patients teeth and face for aesthetic reasons, but the treatment is often prescribed for practical reasons, provide the patient with a functional improvement bite ( occlusion). Dr. Edward H. Angle was the first orthodontist, the first dentist to limit his practice of orthodontics. He is regarded as the "Father of Modern Orthodontics." In the 1940 Dr. Raymond Percy Begg, Australian orthodontist, has developed a "Light Arch technology." Edgewise Both Begg and techniques are still taught today in most training programs in orthodontics throughout the world.
